Tips to Worship Tulsi Plant

Tulsi is a popular herb commonly used in Hindu rituals. It is also found in most of the houses and people worship the Tulsi plant with the utmost respect. It is a popular belief that powerful Tulsi can keep evil powers outside. Besides offering a host of health benefits Tulsi is considered as an auspicious ingredient for puja.

Tulsi puja is a simple ritual and many saints advise it to do regularly for maintaining peace, health, and prosperity in the house. According to a famous astrologer in India, like any puja, it is equally important to follow the rituals of Tulsi puja religiously. Here are a few simple things to do if you have placed auspicious Tulsi plant in your house.

In the early morning after taking shower, you need to get ready to nurture the plant. Water the plant using a pot and clean the leaves first. Then you can worship it with turmeric and vermilion which are good signs and pious objects for puja. You can also decorate the plant with red cloth and tie it with the stem. Some women prefer to worship the tree with flowers.

Fill a copper tumbler with pure Ganga jal and place a spoon into the pot. Take a spoonful of water in the right palm while chanting the mantra. Sip the water after chanting as a blessing. The popular mantras while worshipping the Tulsi plant are  Sri tulsyai namah,  Aum Keshavaya namah,  Sri vishnu pathniyai namah etc. Women who do this puja everyday can tell you the exact mantra. However, it is available in CD format as well.

Light a bunch of incense and wave the sticks around the plant for seven times in the morning. You need to repeat the same thing in the evening after the sunset. Also, light up an earthen lamp filled with ghee and wave it in a circular motion for four times around the base, repeat it twice for the middle part of the plant, and wave it thrice around the top part. That’s not all! If you want to follow everything accurately, then wave the lamp for seven times around the entire plant. There’s also a different mantra to utter while waving the lamp.

Arati is an inevitable part of any puja and without it, the puja will be incomplete. So make sure to do it every day.
